The Jamaica Observer is a news organisation and publication and is virtuoso of the major daily news makeups operating in Jamaica today, on board its competitor the Jamaica Gleaner. The Observer was conceived by businessmen Gordon Butch Stewart and Delroy Lindsay and was developed with the incite of Trinidadian businessman and Trinidad Express owner Ken Gordon. The paper earlier launched in March, 1993 as a weekly publication, with its issues being printed overseas in Miami, Florida and then delivered back to Jamaica to be sold. The Observer eventually moved to a daily format in December, 1994, and moved from its offices located at Fagan Avenue, St Andrew to a new compound on Beechwood Avenue in 2004. The papers founding editor, Desmond Allen, remains with the paper to this day as one of its lead executive editors (according to the newspapers editorial information).Based on what was shared by executive editor Vernon Davidson during our visit to their headquarters, the editorial pow er structure of the Jamaica Observer seems to follow the typical order of a standard newspaper, with its three ...
